Mission Media is an initiative that was launched in September 2015 from a collective desire of cable and entertainment companies to take a systematic, industry-level approach to the hiring and retention of military veterans.  Mission Media's purpose is to provide best practices and resources for all aspects of veteran recruitment and retention including: developing best practices for industry companies centering on the most effective ways to identify, recruit and retain veteran talent; training sessions for human resources managers  who are unfamiliar with recruiting and retaining veterans; virtual job fairs; and partnerships with veteran-related nonprofits and government agencies.  Mission Media also serves as an umbrella brand for unifying the industry’s veterans hiring activities.

In 2018, Mission Media launched its newest initiative, Models of Success, a collection of case studies focused on employers’ best practices for recruiting, onboarding and retaining veterans and spotlights of veterans who have successfully transitioned into careers within the cable and media entertainment industry. This first issue of Models of Success focused on Spectrum's veteran hiring initiatives. The second issue will focus on Comcast's veteran onboarding and retention strategies and will be released in November 2018.
